Power Outages Planned
Holiday Gift Ideas and Best Days to Shop
1. Power Outages Planned
Sadly, there may be more power outages coming Wednesday and Thursday. As of May 18th, Here are the areas that may be affected: Alameda County: Berkeley, Oakland, San Leandro. Contra Costa County: Canyon, El Sobrante, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda, Pinole, Pleasant Hill, Richmond.
Please consider unplugging-not just turning off-computers, TV’s and other electronics before the power outage starts.
I recommend that you consider the following steps:
Turn off computers before the power outage begins. Computers don’t like to have the power turned off suddenly and may suffer damage to equipment and data.
If there is a power outage consider unplugging-not just turning off-computers your electronics during the outage.
When power is restored there are often power surges and power sags. Both surges and dips can damage or destroy your electronics and data.
If your equipment is unplugged, it cannot be damaged.
Please note that I recommend you unplug your equipment even if you have a surge protector or battery backup, as strong surges can go right through these devices.
To check if your address is likely to be affected, please check PG& E’s website.
Hopefully the outages will not occur and you and yours will be well and safe.
