FAKE
Red Flags
1. Address and Subject lines are suspicious.
a) Look at the “From” address. It’s from an icloud.com address, not mcafee.com.
b) Look at the “To” address. It’s not addressed to the correct email address.
c) Look at the Subject. Unusual wording there.
2. Incorrect Grammar. American businesses do not talk like this.
a) Line 1. Strange wording at the start of the second sentence.
b) Line 3. “a feedback” is incorrect grammar.
3) Odd Verbiage
a) Normally, “Term” would be here, instead of Tenure.
b) The amount is way out of line for anti-virus software. This normally sells for $60-$90 per year, not $279.90.
4. Incorrect grammar, Strange phone number, and placement.
a) Line 1. Comma missing.
b) Line 2. “get back your refund @” is not correct English.
c) Line 2. The phone number starts with a + sign. We don’t need + signs to dial a U.S. number. The author is from another country.
d) Line 2. The phone number is not in line with the text. It looks like superscript.
e) “accounts statement” is incorrect grammar. Overall, this scam email is very easy to spot. Legitimate companies, especially large ones, do not send emails with errors like these.
